Meeting Bobby Flay at Williams-Sonoma

15 10 2010

I stood in line for 2-1/2 hours at Williams-Sonoma at South Coast Plaza this morning to have my copy of Bobby’s new book, Bobby Flay’s Throwdown! personally signed by the author. Yes, the wait was worth it! Spoke to a bunch of people in line about just about everything under the sun. Everyone was calm and well-organized. The personnel at Williams-Sonoma had the event under complete control, and everyone was treated quite well – passing out samples of different foods that were prepared at the event. Even giving out gourmet coffee to anyone in line.

Meeting Bobby was great, he was quite engaging and gave everyone the chance to talk to him for a few minutes, and have a picture taken with him (see my photo below). Seems to be one of those people who are the same in person, as the persona that you see on TV – one of the good guys!

The crowd waiting to have their book signed lead out of the mall, and went for about two blocks outside. As Bobby arrived at the store – he was greeted like a “rock-star” – guess I wasn’t the only person in Southern California who apprecites  good cooking.
